Item History & Price
For your serious consideration offered from my private collection:
Art Deco dragonfly desk fanextravagant Streamline designattributed to Raymond Loewy, Germany, c. 1930s
This extraordinary Streamline Dragonfly desk fan is one of the most magnificent examples from the Art Deco era and featured in several important collecting books. Have a look at the awesome Streamline teardrop scallopped base, the three bladed Bakelite propeller held in a trident streamline cage desi...gn......just amazing! The desk fan features an awesome ruby red ( still the original finish/enamel paint) enamelled finish with chrome protective grid and base. Still has it's original black & white cloth covered cord and Bakelite on/off switch and wall plug. All the speeds on this fan are working and even the silver spiral heating element is fully functional. The fan works on 220 Volt, in some countries a currency converter will be necessary to operate this unique fan! This Dragonfly desk fan is part of several museumcollections and a true and very rare icon of Industrial Design that can probably attributed to Raymond Loewy. The chrome base and protective grid trim still have a brilliant lustre without oxidation. The dark red Bakelite propeller is in mint condition. Just have a look at the intricate Streamline design that screams Art Deco & Machine Age all over, very few have survived in this immaculate all original condition. Nothing missing, no oxidation/rust or damage to the body! It's just impossible to capture the true beauty in just pictures, you will see that this gorgeous Streamline desk fan is so much nicer in real. A fabulous Art Deco Industrial icon you shouldn't miss in your collection.
