NO chips, flea bites etc. Has a hand beveled crystal top and is hand blown. Until the turn of the 20th Century, perfume was an expensive luxury only the rich could afford. So, too, was glass. Women bought their perfume in plain vials and decanted them into expensive perfume bottles, frequently made from a variety of semi-precious materials. The arrival of the 20th Century not only made perfume production techniques more affordable, but brought the possibility of, and demand for, a new range of perfume bottles.
Sabino Art Glass History
This piece of art is the creation of the famed Marius Ernest Sabino 1878 - 1961 known as the “Sculptor in Crystal”. His work is a fine example of the “Art Deco Era” that was the prevalent style of the 1920’s.
Marius Ernest Sabino 1878 – 1961 won many awards and his artistry is world famous as the golden opalescence and blue color which characterizes his craft.
All Sabino items were modeled by hand by him for each figurine. His artistry remained in the family until 1978 when the company sold to Richard Choucroun with offices in Houston and France. The products made by this company are not reproductions but rather continuous productions from original molds.
Sabino figurines are considered collectors’ items, as noted in the book Art Deco by Katharine McClinton, and in the years to come will become increasingly valuable.
All pieces are foil stickered, signed or both denoting original Sabino Art Glass
