Antique, mid-18thC silk, silver metal brocade textile fragment salvaged from a very large panel which was pieced together. French in origin. From my personal collection.....no rips or tears aside from inherent age wear, i.e., silk thread wear, tarnishing of authentic metal fibers and the most lush silk embroidered threads...One can see an example of this in last photos. Wonderful patina....for the collector...., soft, but with substance as well as pliability. Th...is was acquired in an antique shop in Lahaska, PA decades ago. Lovely muted, rich colors of pure silk thread with hand-stitched threads along the edge, lengthwise. Wonderful texture; gorgeous, rich appearance. I would also like to note that this may possibly be ecclesiastical in nature. A most wonderful piece.
This measures approximately 21" x 4.5" - 5" - 4" at longest and widest points.
