A true antique, dated Dec. 25 1911, may have been a special Christmas present. Extremely display worthy!Made at a time when people saved everything, this quilt looks to contain a variety of fabric types but has a high percentage of satin, silk and brocade pieces, so appears to contain pieces of special occasion and probably sentimental clothes in it. It looks like it may even have old kimono fabric in it. Each piece of this lightweight batting and hand stitched quilt is skillfully outl...ined in a feather stitch of various colors of embroidery thread.
The back is vivid red satin with no major damage or stains. About three small (about a centimeter) round light colored stains of approximately a centimeter in diameter, one tinier termite? hole, one small snag, all hardly noticeable. There are a few issues in mainly silk patches that have deteriorated in the hundred and eight years of this quilt's life, maybe about ten patches. Pics show the worst.
