Antique Chinese hand-carved jade pendant. A Courtier standing in a pavilion, with a fan in his right hand, observes a large fish as it dives below the waves. Approximately 2 1/4" tall, 2" across, 1/5 of an inch in depth. An outstanding example of the pierced and bas-relief carved work that the artisans of the China Trade were so famous for. Probably Cantonese, late 19th century. It is carved from a single piece of exceptionally fine light green jade. The red silk cord, with 2...
