A much loved, copy of The Banana Splits - "We're The Banana Splits”. Original 1968 pressing. Tra-La-La the Sleeve is in Good (G) condition. Record play graded as Good Plus (G+) Nice copy of a rare late 60’s pop classic! The Banana Splits' bubblegum pop rock and roll was provided by studio professionals, including Al Kooper ("You're the Lovin' End"), Barry White ("Doin' the Banana Split"), and Gene Pitney ("Two Ton Tessie"). Jimmy Radcliffe provided his songs ("I'm Gonna Find a Cave"..., "Soul", "Don't Go Away Go-Go Girl", "Adam Had 'Em" and "The Show Must Go On") but did not contribute vocals to Splits recordings. The music director was music publisher Aaron Schroeder who picked the songs created by his staff writers. The intended main theme song was to be the Ritchie Adams and Tony Powers song "We're The Banana Splits" but the television and advertising executives thought the "Tra La La Song", another Adams composition co-written with prolific songwriter and producer Mark Barkan, was a catchier theme. The single version of "The Tra La La Song" is an entirely different arrangement and recording of the song from the one on the We're The Banana Splits album and the TV show, and features an additional verse.TracklistA1 We're The Banana SplitsWritten-By – Ritchie Adams, Tony Powers2:22A2 I'm Gonna Find A CaveWritten-By – Buddy Scott, Jimmy Radcliffe2:25A3 This SpotWritten-By – Don Lauren, Jay Fishman2:20A4 Doin' The Banana SplitWritten-By – Barry White2:27A5 Toy Piano Melody (Instrumental)Written-By – Roy Alfred2:30A6 SoulWritten-By – Carl Spencer, Jimmy Radcliffe2:19B1 The Tra La La Song (One Banana, Two Banana)Written-By – Mark Barkan, Ritchie Adams1:24B2 Wait Til TomorrowWritten-By – Mark Barkan, Ritchie Adams2:21B3 You're The Lovin' EndWritten-By – Al Kooper, Irwin Levine2:20B4 In New OrleansWritten-By – Aaron Schroeder, Billy Barberis, Bobby Ronga*3:30B5 Two Ton TessieWritten-By – Aaron Schroeder, Gene Pitney2:30B6 Don't Go Away - Go-Go GirlWritten-By – Buddy Scott, Jimmy Radcliffe Label: Decca – DL 75075Format: Vinyl, LP, Album Country: USReleased: 1968Genre: Funk / Soul, Pop, Children'sA record in Good or Good Plus condition can be played through without skipping.
