Shackleton collectors/restorers? Your dream moment has come. I opened a box at the back of my storage and found a treasure trove of long-forgotten Shackleton Foden FG 6-wheeler models and parts. If you're reading this the chances are you already know all about these models but just in case you don't... Shackleton made these extraordinary, very large, clockwork-powered metal Fodens only from 1948 to 1952, with their sales restricte...d by the vast price of £3 which was more than six times the price of the most expensive Dinky lorry. They were then and still are magnificent. This week I am selling the whole lot, three of the trucks, two boxes and a wide selection of spare parts.
This one is for some original Shackleton tools, two of the double-ended spanners, one key and the very rare and rather nice brass handled screwdriver. The last two pictures show the whole array of stuff going on sale this week - and also a mystery item, a large cast lion's head which I think came off an old truck of some sort. I'm wondering if any of you out there might recognise it. Leyland Lion? I can't find a good picture of one. Do tell me if you know. With thanks.
