Although we do not see wear on this engine, we are offering it as usedas it is from an estate. &nb...sp;The 2-8-8-2 proved itself to be a capablehauler on mountain grades, enabling the replacement of several smallerlocomotives and hauling longer trains than before. Most of them were not fast;they hauled at drag freight speeds, up to 25 mph. However, this Norfolk &Western Y6 class were designed to run up to 55 mph. Sometimes referred to as aUSRA type, this Y class locomotives were adopted by a broad spectrum ofmountain railroads, including the Norfolk & Western, Clinchfield, UnionPacific, RF&P, Denver & Rio Grande, Santa Fe & Pennsylvania. Onmany railroads, the locomotives of the type were the most powerful on theroster. Equipped with sixteen 56 inch drivers, the boiler developed animpressive 300 PSI of steam. The engine and tender tipped the scales at 990, 120lbs. The articulated was able to develop a tractive effort of 124, 644 lbs. Themodel comes with original box and insert.
