This stunning antique (assumed to be) pendant is 3 1/2 inches long and 3 5/16 inches wide.
We are not experts, so please come to your own conclusions, but this is what we have been told about the pendant. It likely dates from the 1930s - 1940s, almost certainly was made in Nepal or Tibet, and exhibits 4 Buddhist "protectors." The front protectors are Green Tara, Red Tara and Blue Tara. The protector on the reverse is Garuda, or perhaps Zipata. &nbs...p;A jeweler has confirmed that the beads are authentic coral and turquoise. Although quite soiled, it appears that all the stones are present.
The workmanship is fabulous. Because of the soiling, it is hard to see that each Tara is holding tiny and exquisitely fashioned implements of her spiritual powers. Each Tara also is "dressed" in exquisite tiny metal outfits. including complex crowns.
