$1000 Confederate Bond, Act of March 23rd, 1863, dated Richmond, Virginia, April 1st, 1863. Hand-numbered "269" and hand-signed by Robert Tyler, son of John Tyler, 10th President of the United States (1841-45), who served as the Confederate Register of the Treasury during the American Civil War. Some buildings engraved, with 7 coupons showing "will pay to"... "L. Archer". Probably Lewis Archer Boswell (Lunenburg, Co., 1834 - Alabama, 1909) the aeronautic pioneer who worked as a Co...nfederate surgeon in Richmond during the Civil War. Only a few weeks before this bond was signed, L. A. Boswell had been assigned to Gen. Hospital, Camp Winder, Richmond (2/5/1863) and appointed (3/17/63) as Acting Asst. Surgeon in the Richmond Gen. Hospital. I am not an expert at all, so I cannot confirm this identification.
On the back there is a hand-written number and a still noticeable embossing stamp. Very good condition. Very light trace of having been folded in the past, but not holes or any damage.
