SUBLIME PR LARGE ANTIQUE FRENCH SILK WEAVE CHATEAU CURTAINS c1880
This is a wonderful pair of antique French chateau curtains from the late 1800s. They are heavyweight and substantial and still very strong . The silk and linen weave gived the appearace of needlepoint and they would be wonderful for any period maison. They are lined and interlined with their original bobble passementerie trim. The colour is soft red ...with the brocade weave design in rose, eau de nil, cream and touches of burgundy. The weight allows them to drape and fall beautifully and when tied back they are amazing. Each curtain measures: Length 285cms Width 120cms They have their original wire hooks at the top for hanging, the linings are turkey red and all intact just a little faded with age. There is minimal rubbing to the silks as the photographs show below where they have been tied back with tassels over the years. There are some missing bobbles but these drapes are amazing for their age and full of faded grandeur. All the items in my listings, unless described otherwise, are either vintage or antique. They have all had a 'past' life, a history to tell - and this inevitably affects their condition through use and handling. I do my best to make my descriptions as accurate as possible but please do not bid if you are looking for pristine items; you will not find them in my auctions! However, if you are as passionate as me about beautiful time-worn treasures with a history and full faded grandeur then I hope you will enjoy looking through my treasures as much as I enjoy 'truffling' for the finds. However I cannot be held responsible once I have deposited your parcel at the post office for any subsequent delays which occur whilst the parcel is en route to you.
