Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:22512471 | Circulated/Uncirculated: Circulated |
For sale here is a scarce $20 bill issued by the Republic of Texas on July 2, 1839 with is during the time before Texas was annexed by the United States in 1845 and after winning the Texas Revolution in 1836. It is one of several issues of paper money during that period (most were printed in New Orleans) that were oversubscribed and were quickly discounted well below par in the market. The back is printed in red ink and shows the same Texas star as you see e.g. on the floor... of the state Capitol building today. It is cut cancelled and it has a little margin fraying but it is still in very nice condition overall and it has good eye appeal. This bill is a rare artifact from the Republic of Texas period and it has great historical and educational value. It is for sale without reserve.
