untitled Antique French Art Nouveau Bronze & Mottled Glass 13" Butterfly/Swann Lamp Shade This is an amazing antique, early 20th century Art Nouveau bronze and mottled glass lamp shade featuring swanns and butterflies surrounding the encased art glass shade. This lampshade presents perfectly, but there is damage at the top where the ring opening would attach to the lamp(please ...see pics). Almost half of the area along the top is chipped. In one spot this chip extends all the way to the base metal. This damage wouldn't be visible when hanging off the lamp, but must be mentioned. Otherwise, this lamp shade is stunning. The diameter at the base is 13.5", and the height is approximately 5". The opening at the top is 1 3/4 inches wide. The total weight of the shade is over 6.5 lbs. I put pictures of this shade up in a discussion forum and there was some question as to whether or not it was, in fact, an antique. I've included a picture from the internet of a modern reproduction to help illustrate the difference in quality. I tried contacting Meyda(the manufacturer of the reproduction) but they weren't certain what the origin was of their shade. They thought it was based on a French lampshade and others I've shown it to seem to agree it's probably French. Several People have contacted me since I listed it here on ebay, suggesting it's probably Daum Nancy. That's the best I've been able to do, in terms of identifying the maker.
