Antique Thai Buddha Amulet Old Statue Combodia Buddhist Khmer Bayon Art Gorgeous
Item History & Price
Rich in symbolism, the figure simultaneously holds attributes in each of his hands. In the lower right-hand he holds his own broken tusk, and the lower-left hand he holds a delicacy 'Modaka', sweets which he samples with his trunk. In the two hands behind him, he holds a conch in the upper left hand, while the upper right hand holds the sutra
Cast in the lost wax method, the bronze surface has a wonderfully dry patina, naturally aged to a deep chocolate brown colour, with normal wear, pitting, and is scattered overall in a beautifully layer of efflorescence of green and bluish-green malachite oxidation. The figure dates to the 13th century.
