1999 10000 Lei from Romania. Banca Nationala. Pk 108a and serial number 005B2734054. Graded 67 Exceptional Paper Quality Superb Gem Uncirculated by PMG. Perfect margins and deep embossing supporting the well-deserved monster gem grade. Serial number is in red on the face of the note. Nicolae Iorga at right, gentian flower at center. Arms at top left, bank monogram at upper... center right. The church of Curtea de Arges monastery at center, Wallachian arms of Prince Constantin Brancoveanu on the reverse side. Nicolae Iorga as watermark. BNR watermark vertical and partially horizontal. Nicolae Iorga was a Romanian historian, politician, literary critic, memoirist, poet and playwright. Co-founder of the Democratic Nationalist Party, he served as a member of Parliament, President of the Deputies' Assembly and Senate, cabinet minister and briefly as Prime Minister. A child prodigy, polymath and polyglot, Iorga produced an unusually large body of scholarly works, consecrating his international reputation as a medievalist, Byzantinist, Latinist, Slavist, art historian and philosopher of history. Holding teaching positions at the University of Bucharest, the University of Paris and several other academic institutions, Iorga was founder of the International Congress of Byzantine Studies and the Institute of South-East European Studies.
