This is The Hong Kong & Shanghai Banking Corporation 1st July, 1954 five dollars currency note. The banknote which was issued by the "The Hong Kong & Shanghai Banking Corporation" and printed by Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co. Ltd. ...has a brown design on multicolored underprint with the image of a woman seated at right of the front. The front also has the arms of Hong Kong in the center with the denomination under it. The back is also brown on multicolored underprint with the image of a bank building in the center and a winged angel on top. This particular note has the serial number 143, 965 displayed in black twice on the front but not on the back and is series C/H. The note has two signatures displayed on the front. It is dated 1st July 1954. The banknote has a watermark located in the oval frame to the right on the back, which displays a helmeted warrior's head. Condition: I would grade this banknote as a choice very fine or better with all the details being still very well preserved. The note, which is fully original, shows honest wear and is problem free. It has vertical and horizontal folds and is lightly soiled. It has no stains, no graffiti, no pinholes, no tears and no splits. The edges are intact with minimum roughness at the end of the central vertical fold. Its colors are still clear with no appreciable fading. The note retains some of its original stiffness and its corners are intact with light rounding. The note has great eye appeal and would make a great addition to your collection.
