Terrific letter from Denver, Colorado written January 1887 - 8 pages - see typewritten transcript in the scan.  The writer describes his vocation of building cars and carriages.  He gives a description of the inauguration of the Governor of Colorado.  "The soldiers grand army men and a lot of politicians from Pueblo camp and brought that famous cowboy band from Dodge City, Kansas one of the worst cities in the West.  They were dressed in a... full cowboy suit and all carried big revolvers in their belts 22 of them and hard looking set of men but played nicely they were the attraction of the day.  And today the town is full of thieves and a hard lot of men full of fight and murder...."  Much more to read.  A remarkable find.  The writer was H.L. Plummer. The inauguration would have been for Alva Adams - see below - found on Wikipedia, along with his image.Alva Adams (May 14, 1850 – November 1, 1922) was an American politician. He was born in Adamsville, Wisconsin.[1] John Adams, his father, was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly and the Wisconsin State Senate. He served four years and two months as the fifth, tenth and 14th Governor of Colorado from 1887 to 1889, 1897 to 1899, and briefly in 1905. His last tenure as Governor lasted a little over two months. He and previous Governor James Peabody each declared the other an illegitimate Governor, even though both were involved in illegal electoral practices. Eventually the Republican legislature removed Adams, installed Peabody, who immediately abdicated for his Lt. Governor Jesse Fuller McDonald, and the issue ended.[2]Adams died in Battle Creek, Michigan at the age of 72.[2][1]Adams County, Colorado, is named for Alva Adams, [3] and it is believed the city of Alva, Oklahoma is as well. Alva Adams' younger brother,  William Herbert "Billy" Adams also served as Governor of Colorado from 1927 to 1933. Alva Adams' son,  Alva Blanchard Adams, served as United States Senator from Colorado from 1923 to 1925 and from 1933 to 1941FULL SCANS provided for your research benefit.TERMS$3.00 postage in the United States.  We accept Paypal.Postage combined for multiple purchases.  Please wait for me to send the invoice, otherwise you will pay a higher rate. For International buyers, we utilize eBay’s Global ShippingProgram.  We had too many packages sentvia the post office go missing.  So webelieve this program will be safer for us and for you.We are members of the American Philatelic Society, the U.S.Philatelic Classics Society, the Confederate Stamp Alliance and the IllinoisPostal History Society. We only sell genuine, original letters (no copies orreproductions).  Some of our letters havebeen transcribed and nicely presented for future genealogists and history buffson the Spared & Shared blog.We have been selling on eBay since 1998.   BID WITH CONFIDENCE !
