The original CK 2998 was released in 1959 and has since become one of the most popular vintage Speedmasters in the world. OMEGA used that classic design as inspiration for this new timepiece produced in 2018 that is limited to 2, 998 pieces. The 39.7mm watch is built with a stainless steel case that features a lightly sand-blasted silvery dial featuring three black subdials, which are rhodium-plated and sand-blasted. The dial also features a varnished red chronograph seconds hand, as w...ell as blackened indexes and blackened "Alpha" hours and minutes hands that are coated in Super-LumiNova. The driver-style black leather strap is micro-perforated with a white rubber interior. The revised aesthetics of the watch, including its panda dial, are reminiscent of the racing watches of the 1960s like the Rolex Daytona.
Each unique Limited Edition number can be found on the caseback, along with the original Seahorse medallion. More CK 2998 heritage can be found on the inside thanks to the OMEGA Calibre 1861, a movement that is deeply rooted in Moonwatch history. The CK 2998 became the ‘first OMEGA in space’ in 1962 on the wrist of astronaut Wally Schirra. With its Alpha hands, symmetrical case and dark bezel, OMEGA’s CK 2998 has always had a strong following amongst the most admiring watch enthusiasts. This updated model brings the original spirit back to life and is certain to attract new fans of its own. The Calibre 1861 is the movement that landed on the moon and that NASA still uses on their astronaut's wrists today.
With the original CK 2998, customers were able to choose from four different versions of the timing bezel (including tachymeter, pulsometer, decimal or telemeter). This new model places its white enamel pulsometer scale, for checking heartbeats per minute, on a black ceramic bezel. Unlike bezels of the past, ceramic boasts a hardness that is unlike the traditional metal. It is considered to be scratch proof and to not show signs of wearing. Ceramic is also unaffected by the ultraviolet rays produced by the sun, meaning it won’t fade.

I bought this watch brand new in 2018. It is pre-owned but in immaculate near-mint condition. I've only worn the watch a handful of times and have kept it in a secure, smoke-free environment. This watch is still under the OMEGA worldwide warranty, which is 5 years (note: the warranty card states 2 years; however, OMEGA has extended it to 5 years for all watches already under warranty). This warranty does not expire until 2023. No scratches on the crystal and none that I can detect on the body. Please review the photos as they exhibit the exact condition of the watch. The photos are of the actual watch that is for sale.
This is 1 of only 2, 998 pieces and it sold out almost immediately in 2018. This watch is hard to find and only available now on the second-hand market. Originally sold for $6, 500 and has increased in value since.
Comes with its outer box, inner box, booklets, warranty hologram cards and retail tag. I will also include two extra sets of leather bands I had custom-made for this watch (please see photos). Both of which are new. The watch looks amazing on all of them!
