Reference Number: Avaluer:230254 | Featured Refinements: Grand Army of the Republic |
A Large Mounted Photograph Showing a large group of people posing by the Statue of Gouverneur Warren, at Little Round Top, on the Civil War Gettysburg Battlefield.
Maker marked (front and back) W.H. Tipton. On the bottom left of the photograph, Tipton identified the occasion as "NO. 1594 L.V.R.R (Lehigh Valley Railroad). Personally Conducted Tourist's Little Round Top Gettysburg April 19, 1905. L.W. Minnigh Guide, Tipton Photo."
There are most likely several ...Civil War Veteran's in this photograph. Also, we notice that several men carry a cane, which all look very similar. Perhaps the cane could identify the Regiment, that they represented on this day. We also believe that this negative number could possibly be researched.
This is a large photograph measuring 14" x 18", including the mount, the photograph (sight only) measures approximately 15 1/2" x 10 1/2".
Condition: The photograph is sharp and contrasted, it's VERY NICE. There is a small white stain on the mount and a few white dot's just below the mark on the mount, on the photograph, that are hard to see. This white mark is flat and seems to be part of the photograph.
