SPLENDID ANTIQUE CARNIVAL GLASS FUNERAL VASE RIPPLE PATTERN
Item History & Price
Gorgeous iridescence: the bottom part of this swung vase is in Pastel Marigold, almost Clambroth, gradually darkening into an almost Pumpkin Marigold.
One of the very few patterns with a horizontal design, the distinctive RIPPLE pattern is very desirable. ONLY VASES were made in the RIPPLE pattern, in a variety... of flares and 5 different base sizes, the smallest at 2-1/2” ... called a mini, and the largest at 4-3/4”... called a funeral vase. Occasionally some vases were swung in such a way that the ripples were almost non-existent, leaving the interior vertical ribbing the most obvious feature.
This beauty measures19-1/8“ at its highest point, 16-7/8” at its lowest point. The base measures 4-3 /4”, and the top has a very elegant 5-flutes flare.
This antique swung vase is in beautiful vintage condition: no cracks, no chips, no nicks, no dings. There are some strawmarks and some unopened bubbles, which are inherent traits of the glassmaking techniques of that era. Here is your chance of owning a wonderful piece of glass made in America some 100 years ago.

What is Carnival glass...? are asking the newcomers. It is pressed glass iridized with a metallic spray, which gives it a finish that resembles oil on water, a technique introduced in the early 1900’s. If it isn’t iridized, it is not Carnival Glass. More than 1000 different patterns are known, of which almost 200 are vase patterns (many of them are quite similar).
