Stylish vintage pair of signed studio pottery vases from South America. The seller that I bought these pieces from told me that her parents traveled through South America in the 1950's and 1960's, and had brought these pieces back with them. These ceramic gems scream mid century modernism, and have a strong a...bstract almost cubist energy to them. The incised geometric motifs were most likely influenced by other regional tribal or native artworks or symbols of the time.
Both vases measure roughly 7.75" tall x 4.25" in diameter.
Both vases are in overall very nice vintage condition. They are both clearly signed, although I am not able to decipher the signature of the artist. The bases are also numbered on the bottom. As you can see in the photo, if you zoom in really close, there is a very very tiny nick to the green area (1st photo left vase). I promise you that this small little tiny ding is a more apparent in the photo than it is in reality or in person ... And that is the only wear worth noting ... Being that these pieces are vintage in nature there is always a very slight possibility of finding something else very very insignificant, but I think you will be hard pressed to find anything!
