Up for auction is this antique 19th C Chinese carved mother of pearl inlaid rectangular plaque. The wood is possibly Rosewood or Huanghuali. The scene depicts several scholars and attendants on horses and very fine detail throughout this court landscape scene with bridges, beautiful blossoming trees, rock formations, and a border of flowers and stylized key scroll decoration.
There is some loss as shown but the majority is there and intact. Possibly a lid for an old box originally.<...br>Measures 10.75” inches tall and 7” inches wide (273.1 mm, 177.8 mm).
Would make a fantastic display piece, fine addition to a collection, or a unique gift.
