Click images to enlarge Description The Series of 1899 one dollar issue has a bold image of the Eagle of the Capitol at center. At the bottom are small portraits of Lincoln and Grant evoking memories of the Civil War. All have a blue treasury seal and serial numbers. These notes are commonly called "Black Eagles" and are one of the most popular designs in all of paper money.
