This is not a reprint orreproduction poster, it is a genuine original 2014 Australian advancetheatre release movie poster as distributed by SummitEntertainment. Movie Synopsis:Set in afuturistic dystopia where society is divided into five factions that eachrepresent a different virtue, teenagers have to decide if they want to stay intheir faction or switch to another - for the rest of their lives. AustralianOne Sheet movie posters are 27” x 40” not 27” x 41” liketheir American counter parts and can vary an inch in length dependent on theprinters used to produce them. Modern American posters are now also 27” x 40”but modern posters can also vary by ½” to 1” dependent on the printer used. Australian printers were under licenceto produce the posters as they saw fit for Australian audiences and manyartists did different variations to the American one-sheets.The artists would generally use USposter art or press book images for their inspiration and they would eithertrace or use their own imagination or a combination of both to come up with anew design for the poster. Many vintage one-sheet posters wereusually produced using the stone litho process which produced rich deep coloursbut were only printed in limited quantities. It is believed that as few as 200one sheets were printed for films up to 1950. This explains the rarity of theAustralian one sheet movie posters. The Australian one-sheet movie postersused to be issued folded but now most modern posters are issued rolled and manycome directly from the distributors in America as the American one-sheets arealso now 27” 40” but can vary slightly in length size dependent on thedistributor and printer used. Many are now also double-sided for use in lightboxes. How Our Posters AreGraded: All images ofthe posters are of the actual poster for sale so what you see is what you get, we do not use stock photos. Very Fine – Almost Mint: Unused with no flaws. Fine: Generally unused with the original folds or rolled. There may be someslight minor edge wear due to storage and, possible signs of minor ageing butno significant flaws. Very Good: These have the usual folds or are rolled posters possibly with pinholes, very light blue tack stain spots, minor edge or fold wear, minor splits or tears, and unobtrusive stains but no paper loss. Good: Has possible staining, pinholes, minor paper lifts in corners, small tears (possibly taped on reverse) slightfold separations, minor paper loss, and possible blue tack stain spots, andedge wear but still good enough to frame. Fair: These posters will need somerestoration and are usually only sold on this site if they are very rare andhard to find. There will be a combination of tears, paper loss, staining, pinholes and blue tack stains but because of the rarity of the poster, worthlinen backing. About Australian MoviePosters:The handlitho process was usually utilized for Australian daybill posters resulting ina rich texture of artwork with subtle toning that was often unique toAustralia. Theartists would generally use US poster art or press book images for theirinspiration and they would either trace or use their own imagination or acombination of both to come up with a design for the poster. The daybill sizesvaried considerably from 13" x 30" from the 40s to the mid 60s to13" x 26" in the 80s. The Australian one-sheets were normally 27” x40” as compared to the US 27” x 41” one-sheets. Certainfirms seem to predominate during certain periods, such as W.E. Smith of Sydneyduring the 1940s and 1950s. Several other printers like F. Cunninghame &Co. Pty. Ltd. (litho) Sydney, Royelltone Prints Pty. Ltd., and Simmons Ltd.printed older posters but W.E. Smith and Robert Burton produced most. During the70s M.A.P.S started producing movie posters and there is an overlap where bothRobert Burton and M.A.P.S printed some of the same original posters. Otherprinters like Brown Prior Anderson in Burwood, Victoria, Australia, alsoprinted some of the B grade and R rated Australian posters and, some of thefilm distributors like Roadshow produced their own posters. It isimportant to note that daybills for the original release of a film oftenincluded a lesser duotone and black and white style. In many cases these aremistakenly referred to as copies or later reissues but they were generallyreleased at the same time the full colour versions were issued so are alsooriginals.
