Antique French Morez Mother Of Pearl Wall ClockThe Morez picture frame clock is the quintessential French country wall clock. These clocks were mostly made in and around the town of Morez which is located in the Comte region of France. These clocks take their name from the “frame” which is typically curvy and encloses an intricate design and the dial. This particular one of a kind clock design is made up of mother of pearl, varieties of wood , and brass. Circular clock face is pure... alabaster with porcelain plated Roman numerals, bordered with ornate brass tacking, all protected and covered behind a glass hinged door. The maker of both clock housing and movement are unknown, but the materials used, craftsmanship, style, and movement indicate its origins to be circa late 1800’s. Backdrop has incredibly detailed outdoor scenes with mother of Pearl inlay The movement of this clock is spring driven and strikes the hours and half hours on a coiled gong. Winding of the springs is required once a week to maintain continual running. Key is included.Clock measures 24 3/4” tall, 20” wide, and 5 1/2“ deep with a hanging hook applied to top.This clock has been wound and tested, is in fully working condition with no damages to any part of the housing frame, glass, face, or movement. There is one bridge tower on the left in the border scene that is missing the mother of Pearl inlay. It contains all original hardware, was very well preserved and cared for.
