2 Gallon Meyer Pottery Crock From Atascosa, Texas, Very Rare

This is a 2 gallon stoneware crock made at the Meyer Pottery in Atascosa, Texas, in the late 19th or early 20th century. I found it at an antiques store in Fredericksburg, Texas in the 1980's. I took a pottery course at the Southwest School of Art, in San Antonio, Texas, in 1986. As part of the class, we made a field trip to visit Dr. Georgeanna Greer, a physician and pottery expert, who lived in San Antonio at that time. She had written several books on American Stoneware, including "...The Meyer Family, Master Potters in Texas", and "American Stonewares, The Art & Craft of Utilitarian Potters". She had a separate building behind her home which housed her incredible collection of Early American Pottery.
On the visit to her "museum", I recognized some of the Meyer pottery in her collection as being similar to mine. I asked her if I might bring my crock for her to authenticate, and she agreed to let me do that. She did confirm that my crock was a Meyer crock. I was thrilled.
I have enjoyed this crock for almost 40 years. I am downsizing, and am ready to pass it on to the next owner, who will love it and enjoy it as much as I have.
