This Circa 1870 unmarked 1 gallon stoneware crock has the slight downward tapering body, fat round rim, and swirling blue floral decoration associated with both the Norton Pottery in Worcester, Mass. and the Pewtress Pottery in Fair Haven , Ct. as the two had potters that worked for both firms The two potteries also shared a parrot motif, a signed example from Pewtress of which I am also currently selling on Ebay. T...his crock has a tight firing crack in the side stretching halfway down to the base, It is nice and solid and otherwise in good shape. Measuring 11 inches high and 8 1/4 diameter with no repairs, this smaller than usual size, not so commonly found, makes this pot particularly appealing.
