Offered here for your bidding consideration is this rare antique child’s handkerchief featuring Rose O’Neill’s Kewpie dolls! These beloved characters make this hanky a desirable collectible for doll and textile collectors alike! Measuring roughly 8 1/2” square, the hanky is made from what feels like silk though it may be a very fine, gossamer cotton. The edges of the white hanky are printed with a pink border, with an exactingly stitched hem all the way around. The artwork may ...be straight out of one of author and illustrator O’Neill’s books. It features sweet little Kewpies in action, including a Kewpie soldier in civil war hat courting a rare little girl, with unusual black tufts of hair instead of the expected blonde topknot. She wears a heart necklace and carries a parasol. Both Kewpie children are seated on an old fashioned log teeter-totter. Dating to the 1920’s or so, this little hanky is in excellent, unused condition! It must have been treasured and stored away for many years! ❤️In the last picture I show the hanky with an antique bisque action Kewpie doll, just for my doll collecting friends!
