MID - LATE 19TH C AMERICAN ANTIQUE 2 GAL PRIMITIVE SALT GLAZED 2 STONEWARE CROCK
Item History & Price
DESCRIPTION:There's one very small flea-bite along the bottom edge and another very small flea-...bite on the top of the rim. Both are barely noticeable and don't interrupt viewing the crock. These are mentioned in the spirit of full disclosure. There are no hairline cracks or fractures, repairs (old or new) unsightly stains, sidewall darkening, stoneware ceramic loss or missing glaze flakes. It's not absolutely perfect but considering its large size and weight, it's still in relatively clean and quite well-preserved shape. The hand written, cursive #2 scrolled onto the front sidewall of the crock, is choice and was hand written in blue slip salt glaze, identifying the crock as a 2 gallon container. The interior of the 2-gallon crock has somewhat variegated, near opaque sepia brown, glossy, reflective glaze. The crock was wheel thrown by hand and decorated by hand as well. A great mid to late 19th century American antique salt glazed stoneware crock with a great look in great condition. Handsome. Sharp. CONDITION:Good to Very Good overall antique condition.
