"The Beauty and The Brute" This one's got it all! Spider-Man vs. the monstrous Gog! Ka-Zar battles Kraven the Hunter! All this and J. Jonah too! Inside the Savage Land!Personally I loved th...is issue, if you're a fan of any of these great characters and Gil Kane's astonishing take on them you will love this comic. Looking through it today, right before I scanned it for this auction, it brought back so many great memories of how amazing Gil Kane was and how fantastic comic books were in the early 1970's. I mean just look at the cover art… seriously wow.Trivia: This issue ends with the dedication "to the memory of Carl Denham, entrepreneur." Denham is a fictional character from the film King Kong (1933).
This comics conditionMy copy of ASM #104 is in pretty great shape (as showcased in the scans I took today, which was the first time this issue was out of its comic book bag in at least 40 years). The only issue I noticed which takes the book from NM toVF+ (no the comic hasn't been graded, but please check out my positive feedback, I try to be as honest as possible) appears to be very minor 'spine-rounding' which you will find on the left side of the cover. The spine-rounding, if thats what they call it, probably occurred because its been kept 'standing', safely inside a long comic book box, in its comic bag for decades. Also check out the scan of the interior splash page, there you will notice a minor 'spine-rounding' in the left bottom corner which cooresponses to the covers imperfection. That said, the interior pages look pretty white and it's complete copy with no coupons cut or pages missings or loose. Please check out the scans showcased, any questions ask.
About this comic and my history with it:I picked this copy up of The Amazing Spider-Man #104 the day it arrived new at my local magazine/newsstand shop in late 1971. After I got it home, I very carefully read it, but mostly I studied Gil Kane's brilliance (I mean look at that cover) and then put it in its own comic book bag, and added it to my family's growing Amazing Spider-man collection which, until recently was a complete set of issues 1-300. As my brothers grew up and quit reading and collecting comic books, I was 'asked' to continue the ASM collection. Of note I was 10 or 11 at the time. But as the real comic book junkie in the family, I had no problems saying yes to the task. So it became my job to continue buying ASM's to add to the family's collection, which we all agreed would stop at issue 300. I know what were we thinking. Before this 'job' occurred, while I bought pretty much a copy of every new comic book that hit the stands that I could afford with my allowance, my brothers bought the ASM issues. So until I began to buy them new around 1969 and 1970, my brothers bought every issue either new, by trades, at used comic book shops, or at conventions.  Sadly the time has come to start selling off my entire comic book collection, which includes me and my brother's 'Amazing Spider-man' comics. So my sadness is your gain. Any questions please ask. Also, please check out my other comics on auction, or query me directly if you are interested in other issues not presently listed, perhaps I have a copyof something you are looking for and we could make a deal.
Thanks, and good luck your decision.
