VINTAGE CHINESE FRAMED CANTONESE SILK EMBROIDERY 100 BIRDS ADORNING A PHOENIX The featured item represents a Chinese silk embroidery that measures approximately 29" x 21" with the bamboo design wooden frame. The artwork is matted, put behind protective glass and the visible area is about 23" x 14 1/2".The piece is done in what is known as Cantonese or Yue folk st...yle embroidery. It depicts finely detailed in vivid and bright colors images of a tree, pond and a sun, with various kinds of birds, Phoenix, chickens and ducks. The upper right bears a red seal and four Chinese characters 百鳥朝鳳, that translate as "Hundred Birds and the Phoenix" and is often used in wedding rituals, meaning good luck and happy marriage.
