Description:This is a pre-Shelley cup and saucer by Wileman in Imari colors. The blue, red and gold are bright and beautifully balanced. This item has the Wileman mark and pattern number 3476, Rd 6659. It is published in the book, "Wileman A Collectors Guide" by Richard Knight and Susan Hill. This pattern is discussed on page 41. It says that 3476 was the first pattern number in the pattern named "Square" and then called "Queen Anne" "Square" w...as registered in 1884. The book contains photos of this exact cup and saucer on p 13 and calls it the "Japan" pattern.
I do not see or feel and chips, cracks, dents or crazing. There is minor wear to the gold gilding that can be seen in the photos. Please see all the photos.
