Antique American Empire Mahogany Rocking Chair with Rush SeatDimensions - 32” high to top of back piece. The seat in front is approx 23” wide in front and sets approx 15, 5” the floor. narrows to 16.5” in the back and sets 14.5” from the floor. The sturdy frame sits on top of the two rudders that run 32”from front to back. (Note: I applied felt bumper strips on the underside of the glides to protect my floors. They can be removed.) This beautiful piece has been in my family... for over thirty-five years. Originally purchased in Nashville TN as a set. (The companion piece is not a rocker and is available if interested in more information.It’s in excellent condition. The rush seat was replaced somewhere during the 30+ years by my brother before he gifted it to me. (If you’ve ever had a rush seat replaced, then you’ll know it’s not easy to find a skilled professional and it isn't cheap. Roughly 1/3 cost of the asking price; even 20 years ago.) It was also refinished in that 30+ years. Again by my brother. He moved to New York and then decided to edit his furniture. So it returned to Tennessee/me and finally here in Atlanta GA for 20+ years. Over the decades, he and I, kept it clean by using furniture polish, occasional furniture restorative oil or an occasional coating of beeswax and buffed to a high sheen.
