1860's WASHINGON Series BY S. H. Greene & Sons. HOP SCOTCH KERCHIEF
Rhode Island: Ca. 1865. Washington Series. One of the handkerchiefs in the "Washington" line printed by S. H. Greene & Sons, which became nationally known. The image centers on four girls playing hopscotch.

.Founded in 1828 by Simon H. Greene and Edward Pike, S. H. Greene & Sons became one of the preeminent textile print works in the state of Rhode Island and eventually became one of the most successful and steadily running print works in the country.
12 x 12" white cotton printed in red and black. The edges are stitched and feature decoration. With "Washington. S. H. Greene & Sons" at the top right corner.
