Original Description:
This is a beautiful tapestry from the 1880s.  It is hand made with silk embroidery threads in pastel colors.  It shows a lady fishing by a pond while her companion serenades her on his flute.  They are both in Victorian dress. The tapestry is worked in silk and has a large floral garland frame surrounding the couple.  The figural scene is worked in micro sized stitches.  It is quite large measuring 32" by 26" overall.  The garland and image measures 23" by... 19".

The condition of the tapestry is good.  There are a couple of losses of tiny stitches in the ground at the bottom of the tapestry, and above the ladies head and to the right there are several tiny stitches missing which looks like a shadow or cloud.  I have photographed them for you.  There are no stains or rips or tears.  The yellow color that you see in the largest photo is camera glare and shadows.  There are no stains or discolorations on the front of the tapestry.  The back shows some age related discoloration in the silk backing.  I have photographed this also.
Overall the condition is good, and the tapestry presents beautifully.  It needs to be blocked to be hung.
