Featured in this auction is a beautiful, vintage pottery flower vase made by the Zanesville Stoneware Company (ZSC). This vase has no maker's mark but is stamped with the number 795 on the base and is identified in the collector's guide Zanesville Stoneware Company by Rans, Ralston and Russell as the #795 vase from the very desirable "Verdantone" line. This unusual vase has a light, sandy-brown underglaze mixed with a pale lavender that is visible on both the base... and inside the piece. Dripped over the vase is a matte green, brown and pale-lavender glaze with drips also visible on the body creating a beautiful color combination. This vase has a substantial heft to it with a stylized, carved-melon motif encircling the vase. This vase is in excellent condition with no chips, no cracks, no crazing, and no repairs. There are, however, production imperfections to note such as a number of tiny nicks in the glaze at the top rim with numerous glaze skips, drips, misses, pops and pinholes. There are also glaze streaks and scuffs from gentle use; however, this example is in excellent shape. The piece most likely dates to the 1930's. This vase is approximately 8-1/2" tall, about 6" wide at the shoulder and 3-1/2" wide at the top rim. It's very clean both inside and out. Check out all 10 photos! This rare find would show beautifully as a cabinet piece that would be perfect for any American art pottery or Zanesville Stoneware Co. collector. Check out my other pottery listings!
