VINTAGE 1930s Hand Stitched DOUBLE WEDDING RIMG Feedsack Cotton Quilt 94 x 80 White / lavender. Condition is Used. I grew up in the boondocks of Northeastern Oklahoma on the banks of the Cimarron and only a few miles from Lake Keystone. Boondocks, but oily boondocks. All of our neighbors were elderly folk who were oil and cattle rich, but they grew their own beef, pork, chickens , fruit and vegetables, and many of the older ranching women sewed: and they all—regardless of their wealt...h—had stacks of fabric feed sacks dating back a few decades....Some even wore dresses made from fabric from the 1940s, but were sewn in the 1980s...So, that’s why I know FEEDSACK . It’s always 100% Cotton..and the colors ranged from plain solid colors —to various patterns or just plain white to a wide array of floral and checks and other theme patterns. Of course, quilters used what they had on hand. They used fabric from old clothes and fabric they bought from Sears & Roebuck mixed in with their feed sack fabric.... the pics were taken on a queen size bed, and I think it fits it fine....you can decide for yourself from the pics if you’d want to use it as a bedspread on a full size bed or a comforter on your Queen sized bed. It would also be fabulous HUNG if you are fascinated —like I am —with impeccable stitchery. The person who quilted THIS QUILT was a master of stitchery. Per closely. IT’S NOT MACHINE DONE. Her stitches are that perfect. I had to really search for the tell-tale signs of uneven stitches and humanity. I provided close up pics of her stitching talent so you could appreciate it as well..AND she followed the pattern with her edging. Most are totally rectangular—but look at the edges on this one. THIS QUILT IS A WORK OF ART. Look closely at all the pics. There is one small stain that is pictured....but it’s very small. I just have to be honest with my customers and bring it to your attention. It’s in wonderful condition for its age. We found it at an estate sale , tucked away in the back of a closet under several blankets..it is in such good condition for its age, I doubt it was used often. All the quilts my great grandma Treece made for me are safely stored in a chest...and many of us did that with our quilts. We never used them. They were too precious...so when we die, they are basically like new...and someone else who our grannies never knew actually use them for their intended purpose: to warm.....It is an heirloom piece that deserves a good family. As I said, We found this beauty at an estate sale, and I don’t know anything else about its home life. I don’t know if the dead lady had pets or whether she smoked, but it smells fine to me...The base is STARK WHITE. It is trimmed in lavender. Some of the pics above look yellowed because of the lighting. It is WHITE. There is no yellowing. Shipped via USPS .
