Up for bid is an extremely rare authentic NASA Space Shuttle Tiles Carrier Test Panel. I acquired this piece at an estate silent auction. The person worked at Rockwell International for over 25+ years as a technician responsible for the tile installations.
This High-Temperature Reusable Surface Insulation (HRSI). The ID# V856-150200-044, OCN MN0035908 AND V856-150200-046, OCN MN0035912. Dimensions approximately 20" X 5" X 1.5".
These tiles are bonded to aluminum carrier panel V...856-150200-014, using the same techniques as attached to the Space Shuttle. The carrier panel would have been mounted on the NASA F-15 or F-101 testing airflow along with other tests for Shuttle re-entry (see pictures 10-12). These Carrier panels are extremely hard to acquire, some might agree even harder to find than the flown Space Shuttle flown tiles.
