Exceptionally rare and original, 1840 William Henry Harrison Presidential Campaign Sheet Music featuring a view of the Grand Parade at the 1840 Whig Convention at Bunker Hill.
This rare Campaign Sheet Music is titled “Freemens’ Quick Step – As Performed on the ‘Glorious 10th of September’ Composed and Dedicated to the Deligates of the Bunker-Hill Whig Convention of 1840”, written by George Hews. This important American Presidential Campaign Sheet... Music was published by Parker & Ditson of Boston and is copyright 1840 by the publisher. The cover carries the mark of the lithographer – Sharp, Michelin & Co. of Boston.
This fantastic piece of original, 1840 Illustrated Presidential Campaign Sheet Music measures approx. 12 3/4” by 9 3/4” and is the entire, 4 pages Sheet Music including the illustrated cover. The Cover features a rather complex view of a massive, military parade of the square surrounding the partially completed Bunker Hill Monument.
This is the first edition of this exceptionally rare, Presidential Campaign sheet music.
This original, 1840 William Henry Harrison Campaign Sheet Music was produced during the first Presidential Election that produced a significant amount of Campaign memorabilia. This Sheet Music is among the rarest of that memorabilia.
This very rare and original, 1840 William Henry Harrison Presidential Campaign Sheet Music is in very good condition - complete with all 4 pages present. The binding is intact but there is evidence at the spine edge attesting to the fact that it was once bound in a volume of collected Sheet Music. There is no other physical damage of any kind – no tears, chipping or repairs. There are scattered spots of foxing, age toning and some soiling to all pages.
