Original GermanWWII last M41 desert canteen made for the DAK (German Afrikakorps).Tropical M31 issue pattern canteen of the Wehrmacht. Webbed carryingharness straps with buckle and solid iron clip. Solid Bakelite screw. Thealuminium flask is covered / coated with the correct tropicalimpregnated Bakelite-resin wood mix which gave the canteen the nick name"coconut". Green aluminium drinking cup. Maker marked with"H.R.E." (stands for the company of: Heinrich Ritter Ess...lingen) andwith the "D.R.G.M" (DeutschesReich Gebrauch Muster) and "D.R.P.angm." (Deutsches Reich Patentangemeldet) markings present. Dated from 1943 ! Very Rare piece of field gearwhich was also issued after the North African campaign and often seen in Italyand Normandy as well (note original sample war photos above where you can seethis exact type of canteen in field service).Still coming in nice conditionfrom my personal collection! -I send the item viaregistered Airmail.
