DESCRIPTION :This listing isfor what I believe to be a rare pocket barometer made by a companyUsteri-Reinacher of Zurich Switzerland. Keep in mind I have NO IDEAS how this worksor how to read it. This old coolscientific tool has a serial number of 4282. it is hand written on the front dial as well as stamped in the backcover. This w...onderful old instrument isin a finely made case that is just as well made as the instrument. This instrument has a beveled glass frontlens The top beveled glass and copperbezel rotates with a band of number around its base. The side of this tool has a small scale that has the number 500 550600 650 700 750 800. There is a smallglass tube gauge to the side of that, that resembles a thermometer. There is an arm that extends from the sidethat holds a small magnifying glass. There is an adjustment there as well. Keep in mind I have NO IDEAS how this works or even how to read thisgauge. There is an inset piece of paperthat describes how to use this instrument. There are some hand written numbers that match the numbers o the frontpaper dial under the bevel glass. Thefront bezel with glass is about 3.125 inches across. It is about 3 inches deep. The leather boundfitted case is just slightly bigger and this screws inside with twoscrews. This case has two hinges to fitthe barometer and moving arm. This is ingreat condition with some slight wear form being around. Some discoloration as well. The case has much more wear scuffs andscratches. The hinges all work well andthe latch is a simple spring and works well. The latch has the initials LZ PARIS. I am unsure of the exact age of this instrument but I would guess it is fromthe mid to late 1800s. You decide forsure as it is OLD and ORIGINAL. It isbeing sold AS-IS because as I have mentioned I have no idea how to read or how itwould work. I cannot see any reasons whyit would not work.
