This well worn 68" x 72" middle 1800's paisley employs many different techniques in its making and is in need of restoration. The colorful outer border is pieced and there is lots of hand-stitched embrouidery and piecing of many different styles, pieces and scraps of colorful fabric. It looks really bad with the outer border showing fraying at the ends of the pieces and throughout the textile there is separation of stitches joining areas of the design. Amazingly..., there is very moderate fabric loss and most of the fabrics retain their structural integrity so all that is needed is ENDLESS re-stitching and a proper cleaing with tiny spots of in-fill. The central black fabric is fairly brittle: most likely from the dye used to create the black. Its colors are vivid and the design reflects those typical of the early to middle 1800's.
