For sale is this Chinese Pewter box decorated with a dragon and flowers. I believe that it was used as a tea caddy because of the tall interior sides. It was probably made some time between 1910 and 1930. It was made in the Chinese city of Swatow (now Shantou) on the East coast of Guandong. The city has long been famous for its porcelain and metal ware. This piece is signed by Kut Hing, the pre-eminent producer of such pewter ware. It measures about ...6 inches wide by 3 1/2 inches deep by 2 3/4 inches tall. It is in fair condition with some dents on the lid, a scratch on one side, and a split in one corner which I have photographed. Pewter is a very soft metal depending on the alloy. Minor scratching and wear throughout. Please refer to photos and feel free to ask questions.
