Original Description:
Brass Chinese Foo Dog. This is the Imperial Kylin, a overlooked creature from Chinese and Tibetan mythology. They are second only to Dragons in mythology.  This Tibetan Kylin has a full suit of armor, red highlights, and splayed toes as well as such ornate detail that gives it great character.  It is very solid measuring at 3 3/4" x 4" x 2".   Described as a Chinese "Foo Dog", or sometimes "Mythical Lion", it is very difficult to know the actual age of these antique... statues.  They appear in different sizes and artistic treatments.  This mythical Chinese winged lion will protect your home and property and attract wealth.  There were usually two at the entrance to a temple and were used for incense and offerings. Condition is very good consistent with age. The belly of the sculpture is open up through the mouth where I believe some sort of incense was placed. There is black soot inside.  This is a wonderful piece and be a great addition to any collection or the start of a new collection.  See all photos for details of condition.
