2 -- C1840 Chinese Export Famille Verte Porcelain Rose Medallion Plate As Is
For the lover of Oriental Export wares, we offer these (2) Skillfully Executed Daoguang Famille Verte Plates for your consideration. The first plate features (2) (exceedingly well painted) reserves showing Chinese nobility in repose in an outdoor palace setting. The plate features quality hand painted raisied enamels with shaded faces copious gold in h...air accents.
It measures 9 5/8" wide and dates to the 19th century. The condition remains generally well preserved by most standards. The only flaw is well shown in the final two detail images- one 1/4" wide edge rim chip that is fairly inconspicuous. I note no other chips, radiating cracks, nicks, repairs or paint losses to speak of. A worthy candidate for professional restoration.
The next plate dates to the same era and features heavy raised enameling in blues & greens with bat & calligraphy decorations. This plate measures 9 3/4" wide. The condition remains generally well preserved except for a tight hairline measuring 2" in length, as shown.
This only flaw is well shown in the final (2) detail images. I note no other chips, radiating cracks, nicks, repairs or paint losses to speak of. (2) quality export offerings that have survived quite well indeed for these past 170 years or so.
