Cromwell, Ct.took over the Shepard line of banks and produced it under their name. the Shepard version has the distinctive rectangular coin trap and the Stevens ver...sion has the their round trap. The bank was based on patent no. 328, 723 issued to Charles G. Shepard and Peter Adams, jr, on oct 20, 1885. It was advertised in the 1886 Selchow & Righter Catalog for $ 8.50 per dozen.
