US Army troops and US Marines of WW2 were issued the M-1942 machete for clearing brush, fields of fire, and if necessary, use as a last resort weapon. This US Army USMC Marine WW2 COLLINS M-1942 MACHETE is in very good condition, with some chipping to the upper blade edge, some sharpening to the blade edge, some scattered finish abrading and patina at each side of the blade, some small chips in the middle right handle scale, some scattered scratching to that right handle scale, and... with some scattered age wear evident (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the machete is in fine shape, with no other damage. Most interestingly, it features an 18" blade, sports elegant dark brown horn handle scales with the classic protruding bottom, and is "US" stamped at the ricasso, along with the traditional "arm, hammer, and crown" maker's logo of the famous "LEGITIMUS / COLLINS & CO", and the date, "1945". It's complete with the original US WW2 OD Canvas Engineers Scabbard in very good condition, with a tear in the lower right front edge, a small tear near the rivet at that lower right front edge, some reddish brown soiling at the lower front body, some patina and light uneven bending to the wire hanger at the upper back, and with some scattered age wear evident (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the scabbard is in fine shape, with no other damage. Most interestingly, it's "U.S." stamped with serifs at the upper front body, above a similarly marked Corps of Engineers "castle" BOS insignia, bears a darkened brass reinforced throat, and carries a fully intact metal wire hanger at the upper back.
