Antique Art Deco Egyptian Revival Vantines Celadon Flapper Incense Burner W/Tin
Item History & Price
A rare 1920s Art Deco Egyptian Revival semi-nude woman sitting on a pyramid base and holding a round incense burner urn. Vantines imported a variety of incense burners in the 1920s and 30s of which the figural women are uncommon and those with a beautiful celadon patina are rare. The piece is made from grey or pot metal, covered with a green matte paint which resembles the patina on bronze. The... woman has bobbed hair and a flapper headband and she is gazing up with a joyous expression on her face. She is holding the incense burner urn like it is a precious offering. The burner is missing its original lid.
The figure is 8.5" high and the base is 3.25" square. Weight is 2.3 LBS. This burner is not marked but it is definitely from the Vantines catalog. The base is missing its original felt covering the bottom and there are areas of paint loss as shown in the photos. There is no damage otherwise.
The lot includes an original Vantine's cone-shaped incense tin with a couple of remnant incense pieces.
