SIZE: Measures approx. 3 1/2 +/- by 5 1/4 +/- inches in the closed position and is approx. 5 1/2 inches in the OPEN position. All measurements taken at... the largest / widest / longest points.
CONDITION: EXCELLENT - CLEAN AND nice with mild signs of use/age as shown. - PLEASE SEE ALL ADDITIONAL PHOTOS BY SCROLLING DOWN TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE AS THEY ARE PART OF THE DESCRIPTION. SIGNATURES/MARKINGS: It is not marked/signed as expected for age. Inside is an old note written on an old yellowed paper and in fountain pen that is pinned asnd reads, " GREAT GREAT GRANDMOTHER - MARTHA MARAUDA CHAPMAN ". COMMENTS: Extra nice old Civil War era Iroquois Indian made beaded Victorian needle purse. These were often used as gifts after returning from honeymoons at Niagara Falls in Victorian times. This one looks to have barely had any needles puncturing the inside area. It has extra nice raised beaded florals on the back and front which are quite showy and dramatic against the barely faded blue velvet. This is a rare design in that it is almost the exact style and size of many of the more traditional pouches made by the Iroquois in the mid 1800s. They changed the purpose but couldn't leave the style..quite fascinating really. Well over one hundred years old. Great old early beads and it has NO RESERVE ! In the rare instance something is damaged in shipping it will be the buyer's sole responsibility to process the claim at the post office. We will provide all the required documentation to help you speed through the process. We cannot issue refunds for directly for items damaged in shipping as we are not the insurer and the post office rules will not allow anyone but the recipient to handle the claim.
