tray is 13' by 11'Christofle tray. Most likely silver plated. See photos for details. Here’s what I found about this tray and its design online:
Nature comes to the tableFortunately, this tray is in silver metal, because it could have been confused with a water lily leaf! Water lilies are aquatic plants that can be found on the surface of the water in ponds o...r artificial ponds. They are recognizable by their circular and flat shape. Here it is a particularly large kind of water lily, named Victoria Regia. Originating from hot countries, they are also found near Toulouse, in the south of France. This is also where the workers of Maison Christofle go to pick them, before bringing them back to Paris. Indeed, Maison Christofle has developed a “natural” printing technique. This means that we press the lily leaf on the metal so that it gives it its design. This is why the tray looks so much like a leaf!Towards a new artIt was in 1880 that Maison Christofle used this printing technique for the first time. By seeking decorative forms directly from nature, the company follows a new fashion known as Art Nouveau. https://www.petitsmo.fr/les-oeuvres/plateau-decore-par-impression-naturelle-christofle-cie
